Course Overview
This course is designed for personnel who require respiratory protection whilst working in confined spaces in the form of open circuit breathing apparatus (SCBA - Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) or Long Line breathing apparatus. If the identified confined spaces (which will be different in each workplace) requires the use of respiratory protective devices wearers need to be competent in its use in accordance with AS/NZS 1715:2009 and should undertake training. The wearer will also need to identify which breathing apparatus is best suited to the task being undertaken.
Students undertaking this training must conform to AS/NZS 1715:2009 in regards to facial hair. (Appendix B gives guidance). Beards (including goatees) are not permissible. Moustaches will be allowed as long as they do not interfere with obtaining a proper inner seal of the orinasal cup in the face piece.
Accrete’s Facilitators will ultimately decide whether a person’s moustache conforms with the AS/NZS 1715:2009 or not.
Dress
A minimum standard of clothing consisting of short trousers, sleeved shirt and fully enclosed footwear is required. Failure to wear the correct clothing may result in training being refused.
Drug and Alcohol Policy
Alcohol cannot be consumed on Accrete premises. In the opinion of management, if a participant is under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, then management shall remove that person from Accrete premises. Notification to the person’s employer may be made if the employer paid for the course.
Course requisites
Participants must be compliant with AS/NZS 1715:2009 in regards to facial hair.

Assessment
Participants are assessed by our qualified facilitators based upon their level of participation in addition to written assessments and practical observations.
